HISTORY OF HSIR

AdPI 2019 - THE BEGINNING

On 27 September 2019, from 9.00 to 19.00, the first major event of the Association saw 12 speakers and more than 700 students attending the cycle of conferences for the entire day. In particular, the "Academy of International Politics" consisted of four conferences framed by a lunch. The topics of the initiative covered Europe and Africa, the world geopolitics and geoeconomy and democracy from the point of view of political philosophy. All of them were treated by professors of the Alma Mater Studiorum, University of Bologna.

HSIR20 - THE ZERO EDITION

The first edition of the Hikma Summit of International Relations was to be held at the Forlì Campus of the University of Bologna on the 8th, 9th, 10th of May 2020. Everything was ready and organized, but, due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, the event was canceled. 

From the 24th to the 27th of September 2020, the Zero Edition of the Hikma Summit of International Relations was held on the Cisco Webex virtual platform. More than 900 students from the political science faculties of universities from all over Italy enrolled and participated. The Digital Festival consisted of 12 conferences, 10 Meet the speakers, 10 interviews, 6 workshops and 1 Career Day with 8 careers explored.

HSIR21 - THE FIRST EDITION

Edition One, which took place from the 13th to the 16th of May 2021, surpassed the previous one, counting among its guests Nobel prizes and international figures. Organized around 3 pillars: technology, sustainability and inequalities, the 2021 edition tried to look "Beyond crises".
With over 9 conferences, 11 guests, 7 workshops, 1 Career Day and countless Meet-the-Speakers, HSIR reached nearly 900 students from over 44 countries, offering incredible networking possibilities to all attendees. Totally free and completely in English, the Festival took place digitally for the second consecutive year, allowing everyone, despite the ongoing pandemic, to participate from the comfort of their home, anywhere in the world.
